At the end of 2002, Tomica released No. 81 in the form of the 2002 NSX-R. These come with chrome headlights standard.

Black “Sagittarius” – Tomica Astrology Series

This one is No.9 of Tomica’s Astrology Series released in 2002 – the black NSX representing Sagittarius. Other Hondas in the series included the CR-V (Aries) and Fit (Gemini).

      

Gold-plated – Tomica Expo Tokyo 2003

Released in August 2003 in Tokyo at the Tomica Expo. Even on this gold plated version where it would have been easier to goldplate the whole car, the headlights are still chrome like others in this casting.

Yellow/black roof on black – Osaka Motor Show 2003

The yellow car for the 2003 Osaka Motor Show was little changed except for event name tampos on the sides and rear deck.

Yellow/black on black No.2 – Pla Kids

Blue/black roof on black – Toys-R-Us

This NSX was part of a 2-car set exclusive to Toys-R-Us (Japan) that included a Honda S800 in red. Unlike most of the Toys-R-Us exclusive releases, this NSX doesn’t have much additional detail aside from the black intake inlet on the sides.

Blue/black roof on black – Tomica Expo Osaka 2013

No.16 car for the Tomica Expo in Osaka for the 2013 Event Model series. Though similar at first glance to the later 2018 event model, this one is a lighter blue and is differentiated from the later car as this one has the event name on its doors only. Additionally, this car’s hood is black.

No.19 car for the Tomica Expo in Osaka for the 2018 Event Model series. Differentiated from the No.16 car, this one has the event name on its rear fenders and its rear wing. Additionally, this car’s hood is body colored.

Blue/black on black “Polizia” – Apita Piago exclusive (2012)

Released in autumn of 2012, this “italian” police car was exclusively available through Apita and Piago stores.

Chrome-plated on black – Byun-Byun Circuit playset (2008)

This not-for-sale model was a bonus giveaway with the Byun-Byun Circuit playset – which essentially makes this a Apita and Ito-Yokado exclusive since those are the only two resellers of that set.

White/black on black Police – Emergency Launch 24:00! boxed set (2004)

White/black on black Police – Ito-Yokado exclusive (2009)

Although similar at first glance to the earlier Emergency Launch version, this differs in that it has a police logo instead of the H logo on the front. This release’s front, side and rear vents are not black like those of the earlier release.

Blue/white/black roof on black Police – Tomica Expo Osaka 2003

Unlike the earlier No.78 release of the original NSX that had a separate model for the patrol car, Tomica did not release a separate model for the Patrol/Safety version of the NSX-R.

This model, with its blue boomerang lightbar, was the attendee giveaway for Osaka Tomica Expo 2003.

        

Silver/blue on black – “Magnum Rescue” custom

A very rare custom issued NSX from a toy set. One of the few functional Tomica NSX models. By contacting the α sensor, you can enjoy about 30 types of light and sound gimmicks. The light and sound is activated by the main body.

White/black roof on black – 50th Anniversary Historical Series

Released in August 2020 amongst a sequence of releases in this series, this NSX-R release marked the introduction of the refined casting of this model. To the keen eye, amongst the noticeable changes:

• front license plate added
• windows are flush with the exterior
• cast lines are more refined
• front bumper/grill are more detailed
• headlights are clear plastic lenses instead of chrome
• rear diffuser is more detailed.

White/black on black – Toys-R-Us exclusive (2023)

Living up to the additional detail Toys-R-Us exclusive releases are known for, this NSZ-R has black hood, front grill, intake vents, rear wing. Its headlights are also clear instead of the typical solid chrome. Using the updated casting, this release has the front plate and additional refinement that was introduced.

Orange/black roof on black – Historical Car Collection (2024)

No.17 in the series of cars included in a magazine series that includes a model car with each publication. This one was issues in January 2024.

Gold/black roof on black – Tomy 100th Anniversary Tomica Set (2024)

Instead of the typical celebration of Tomica’s anniversaries, this release is part of an boxed set commemorating Tomy’s 100th anniversary. The NSX-R uses the updated casting and comes with 3 other non-Hondas.
