The number of NSX variations issued by Tomica is quite high – second only to the S800 as far as Hondas go.

Tomica’s NSX’s are 1:59 and with varying levels of detail varies depending on the issue.  The NA1 NSX’s were issued as No. 78 (including the NSX-T), followed by the NA2-R as No. 81. The No120 NA1 Safety versions with light domes are a variation of the 78’s casting.

Red/black on grey – first release

As the first release of Tomica No. 78 (1991-2001), a red with black roof and grey interior (Made in Japan)

White/black on red – first release

A white with black roof and red interior from a couple of different packaging.

Yellow/black roof on red – Dream Energy III

A yellow w/black roof and red interior that came from a Dream Energy III Lottery box.

Dark green/black on black – Amusement Series

Typically used as arcade prizes, the continuing Amusement Series of keychains added the NSX in 2000.

Raw bronze – The Honda boxed-set exclusive

Here is a brushed pewter colored NSX that comes from a boxed Tomica set titled “The Honda”.  The level of detail is similar to those in the Tomica Limited Series. The set also includes a Honda Fit and an Honda S800M similarly finished.

Chrome-plated on black – Mini Tomica Expo Ikebukuro 2000

A very cleanly styled chrome version with black interior was released in 2000 for the Mini Tomica Expo in Ikebukuro in May that year. Distributed as a game prize and not for sale, the model comes in a special edition white box with black design, instead of the usual blue, with Tomica logo. The model is made in China.

Released in January 2002 for the Tomica Expo in Osaka later in April, this was certainly one of the later official releases of this casting.

Black/black on black – Power by Honda boxed set exclusive

Imola orange on black – Gran Tourismo boxed-set exclusive

From the Gran Tourismo boxed-set, comes a Type-S in Imola Orange with a body-colored roof and black interior. For a boxed set, it’s a bit surprising that the primary detail is in painted side intake inlets.

The Hondacurator Collection does not have the boxed set, only the NSX loose.

Red on black – TBD

This red NSX Type S made in Japan model has a gold tint in the windows – a bit unusual as far as this NSX casting goes.

Yellow/black on red – Hakuhinkan Toy Park promotional custom

Essentially the yellow (Dream Energy III) car with a promotional tampo on the hood for the Hakuhinkan Toy Park.

Silver/black on white – OOADO custom

A silver with black roof and white interior from OOADO.

White/black roof on red – Japanese Sport Car 10th Anniversary custom

Yellow/black on black – Shutokou Battle custom

This yellow has a black roof and black interior from a black Shutokou Battle box.

White/black roof on red (pink/red graphics) – “Battle Oshawa” kuji custom

Here’s the set of “Battle Oshawa” decorated NSX’s. There is also a set in black for the NSX Patrol car.

in 1995 Honda released the NSX-T not just in 1:1 but also exlusively through Honda Direct Marketing.
